Autumnal days with dappled light, escaping the bustle of the city, being able to sit outside with a drink watching the sun go down… How enticing is that? It is rare in London to find this sort of space, so here is something to take advantage of. Eccleston Yards is that little oasis, and new home to the Jones Family Kitchen.
A tiny square off Ebury Street that is in the heart of Belgravia, the added bonus is that until Saturday 15 September Paradise Now have created a pop up with the most beautiful, enticing pink space, with waterfall mist, aromatherapy stones… it’s a gorgeous outdoor urban spa, and it is free.
So why else should you go? Well, it is also home to the Jones Family kitchen.
Interiors, cocktails and a ‘Happy Hour’:
In one word – Lush. The bar was in full swing when we went at night, they have a great happy hour, and I can see why.
The words had obviously got out and subsequently it was busy. I went back to take this photo!
An interesting cocktail list, along with some really nice and interesting wine. Jones Family have these two pink cocktails to compliment the Paradise Now installation, so be sure to check them out. We definitely preferred the gin based cocktail.
Eating with the Jones Family:
Small plates mean everyone can share, and that we did. The cider cooked octopus went down a treat – actually my favourite dish of the evening.
A close second was the burrata and beetroot, which was melt in the mouth delicious.
Our main courses were equally good. Between three of us we went for Spatchcock Poussin, Cornish Cod and Mr B had steak and chips – his staple!
Everything was delicious. My poussin was excellent, the cod went down a treat, and the steak disappeared. A little extra was the truffle mac & cheese – I can’t resist, and it was good and not too overpowered by the truffle. A delicious little extra.
We finished off with a scoop of caramel ice cream. All their ice creams are made in London at Hackney Gelato, and it was the scoop of the night. It was dark, so no photo sorry – it was also devoured before I remembered to try for the photo…
One other note to mention is that they do offer a vegan menu, you just have to ask for it. Plates to share are the way to go I know, and what I love most is that I get to nibble a little bit of everything.
Verdict for The Jones Family Kitchen:
